What is Scalp Micropigmentation and how can it solve my problems?

A hair tattoo or scalp micropigmentation (SMP for short) is a non-surgical, cosmetic tattoo that gives the illusion of thicker fuller hair.
Scalp Micropigmentation, or SMP for short, is a non-invasive treatment that uses detailed micro-needles to deposit pigment into the scalp. The result creates the appearance of tiny hair follicles that help thicken and restore the look of fuller hair for both men and women. By accurately replicating natural hair follicles and hair color, SMP can help strengthen and add density to thinning areas, creating a more youthful look. It requires little to no maintenance and carries no strict lifestyle or daily restrictions. The procedure can also conceal scars from hair transplantation and hide the visual impact of burns or scars on the head. Scalp micro pigmentation can be performed on all ethnicities.
There are millions of men and women in the United States who suffer from thinning hair or hair loss. It can be pretty frustrating because you may lose your confidence and feel that you are no longer attractive. Usually male pattern baldness is more common, but women also have these issues. There are many reasons why you may lose your hair:
  • heredity
  • medical conditions
  • hormonal changes
  • normal part of aging.
If you have this problem then I have some news for you – you have come to the right place. We provide scalp micro pigmentation services for men and women who want to improve their look and confidence.
You may be wondering how scalp micropigmentation can help you with this issue. Of course, it is not a treatment that will start growing your hair again. But it will help you to blend those hair follicles that are gone into the rest of your hair.
The main goal of SMP is creating tiny black layered dots in different hues to replicate the look of a hair follicle on your scalp. When it is done properly, it will create natural-looking depth and definition. The talented hands of a well trained and experienced SMP practitioner can do miracle work!
Here you can see some before and after pictures of various SMP procedures. Isn’t it great?
The SMP procedure typically involves three to four separate sessions, but totally worth the time and money. Thinking about hair transplants? Those that have this operation done will still likely need SMP treatment to create the natural looking appearance of your hair and hair line. One procedure may take from two to five hours and next one will be scheduled in few weeks.

How long do hair tattoos last?

SMP is permanent and should last at least 7-10 more years if you provide a proper care. Every case is individual. After this time period you may need some touch ups which is common. Every person is different and have different metabolisms. Skin is the biggest human organ and it has its own metabolic processes. So ink injected deeply to your skin also will be partially metabolized. But it should not effect your SMP look.
Also, you need to follow post procedure instructions that will help you to keep the SMP result as fresh as possible as long as possible. We will provide you the full post procedure instructions during in person or online consultation so that you will have a full picture before you schedule your procedure.

How realistic is SMP?

This is a very common question I receive from my clients during our free consultation. It does look realistic. The methods employed help to create a natural look, like your hair follicles are still present on your scalp.

How many sessions does SMP take?

It will depend from the size of area we need to provide procedure for. Usually, it will take at least 3-4 sessions 4-8 weeks apart. Each session may take up to three or even five hours. Yes, it is time consuming, but you will be amazed with the result. During procedure we will make you feel as comfortable as possible so that you can listen your favorite music or audio book.

How painful is the SMP procedure?

The pain level varies from person to person. All people are different and differently tolerate pain. Scalp micropigmentation is somewhat painful but tolerable. It is usually a 2-5 on pain scale of 1-10. Our head skin has many nerves and it can provoke some pain but most of my clients tolerate it with no issues.
